MTG: Can a creature block twice?

if a creature has the ability to untap itself can it block one creature then uptap and block another during the same turn?

  1. nope sorry, a creature can only block once just like it can only attack once. unless you use a card that says otherwise

Unless a creature has an ability that says something to the effect of "this creature can block more than one creature", it is only allowed to be declared once as a blocker.  And you don't tap a creature to block.  If the creature is tapped, it cannot block.  If you untap it, then it can block.

  3. Blocking doesn't require a creature to tap.  There are a few cards that can block more than one creature during the combat phase, (Avatar of Hope, Wall of Glare, Two-Headed Giant of Foriys, etc.) as well as a few non-creature spells that allow creatures to do the same effect.

    You can, however, attack with a creature and then use its ability to untap itself and then declare it as a blocker during your opponent's combat phase.
