Question:

MTG: How does True Believer's effect work?

My friend has the card True Believer, which has the effect "You (the player) have shroud." I know this means I can no longer target him with direct "Do damage to target player" effects, but are his creatures also protected? Does his shroud also protect his creatures from being targeted?

  1. Shroud - this permanent (or player) cannot be the target of spells or abilities. Notice how True Believer says "You have shroud". This means only the player has the ability shroud. His creatures have to be granted shroud by another ability; they are not affected by True Believer.

  2. From what I understand, it's only the player and not his/her creatures.

  3. no, the creatures are not protected, only the player has shroud.
