For instance, Stonybrook Schoolmaster

He was playing that with a Merrow Reejerey. With Reejerey he would then untap the Schoolmaster as he played a new token, from tapping it with Drowner of Secrets creating a new token and milling me to death. Is this an infinite combo, or have I been tricked into thinking that tokens are spells?

  1. Spells are cards played from your hand (except lands).  Tokens are not spells.

  2. The Reejay ability triggers when you play a spell. You are never playing 'token' spells. You always play spells (or abilities) that create tokens, but tokens are not spells.

When the schoolmaster ability put 2 merfolk in play, that is not a spell, it is the resolution of an ability.

    Thus the 'combo' doesn't work.

If your opponent were using intruder alarm+stonybrook schoolmaster + drowner of secret, then the combo will work.

  3. im sorry to tell you tokens are not spells

(most older players didn't even know that the rules changed to make them permanents)

they are peramnents but not spells. a spell is a

    creature

    enchantment

artifact(the above are only spells when on the stack)

    instants

sorceries (these only ever go onto the stack then they go to the graveyard)

and the abilities of permanents(artifacts creatures enchantments and land are not spells they are abilities so those wont untap the reejerey either.

ok so now you know what spells are (if he doesn't beleive you go to comprehensive rules on the wizards mtg website. dont print it off it is 200pages long but easy to navigate(relatively)

i will give you a few infinite mill combos if you contact me at my email address(jordonmorrissey@hotmail.com)ok happy gaming.

  4. yeah u just got punked haha

  5. Tokens are produced from a card coming into play or an card's ability.  Example, Chatter of the Squirrel is a sorcery that produces a 1/1 squirrel token, but it's not the token that was the spell, the card was.  So he used an card's ability to produce them.  They again are not spells.  A spell produced them.  Tell whomever you played that you won that game for his insolence :D
