MVP Shortstop Jimmy Rollins being back on Philadelphia Phillies roster just a matter of time -MLB

All-Star and former Most Valuable Player (MVP) shortstop, Jimmy Rollins, is still without a contract nearly midway through the 2011 Major League Baseball (MLB) offseason and after the critical Winter General Manager Meetings, making it just a matter of time
until the veteran player in expected to be back on the Philadelphia Phillies roster.
The 33-year-old player is looking for a long term contract according to sources, somewhere in the five-year range which the Phillies are reportedly not willing to sign him onto. With a number of big name players out of the free agent market and on their
future teams, Rollins in quickly running out of options and more in the direction of his team of the past 11 seasons.
“At some point it is going to have to be Rollins and the Phillies left at the table,” sad a NL front office member who spoke with Philly Sports Daily last week, “and I do think he ends up returning simply because it makes the most sense and because it’s
the biggest need for the club.”
Some analysts have even termed the deal as being signed as soon as within this week or the next but at the moment, it is still unclear when the agreement could take place between the two stakeholders.
When the St. Louis Cardinals lost their superstar player, Albert Pujols, who signed on to a blockbuster 10-year, $254 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels, thing were beginning to look up for Rollins but with the news of the team signing on Rafael Furcal
to a two-year deal worth a reported $14 million, the shortstop was back where it all started at square one.
Current general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies, Charlie Manuel, thinks that it is only a matter of time when the two get back together.
"I think what it's going to boil down to is that Jimmy knows we want him back and also knows he wants to come back. It's just a matter of the two sides becoming one and happy with what's going on, and then Jimmy is going to be with the Phillies next year."
