MVP honours at stake if Milwaukee Brewers’ Ryan Braun found guilty of PED use – MLB Special
The Milwaukee Brewers’ leftfielder and this year’s National League Most Valuable Player (MVP) Ryan Braun is likely to face some serious troubles if he is found guilty for using performance-enhancing drugs (PED) in the last season.
Many experts on baseball say that he might have to give up all his MVP honours if his appeal goes to waste and PED charges are proven against him. This might not be an official procedure laid by the Major League Baseball sources but currently it is speculated
by the baseball analysts and fans. Conversely it is also a compulsory gesture on any sports individual who confronts this kind of acquisition should renounce all of his awards until he receives a clean sheet from all probes.
Earlier, Gary I. Wadler, who is a professor of medicine at Hofstra North Shore LIJ School of Medicine and ex- chairman of the World Anti-Doping Agency's Prohibited List and Method subcommittee, was also surprised when he suddenly found himself giving answers
to many reporters about Ryan Braun’s supposed act of using a banned drug.
Wadler said, “In the world of doping, we use the principle of strict liability, so if you knew how it got there or not, if it's in your body, you are held accountable. Nor is it a legal issue, what is legal in the United States may not be permitted in the
sport of baseball.”
Here Wadler is right as Braun would be held on account of deceiving the whole league and the United States law however, gives him some flexibility but MLB is a big organisation and they will take care of this matter with every aspect.
Later not only the Brewers’ management did try to cover the whole fiasco but their principle owner Mark Attanasio also came in the media and stated about Ryan Braun and his good qualities as a responsible citizen. Attanasio was also very worried over the
ambiguous lab reports which have created this whole argument.
Attanasio said, “Ryan Braun has been a model citizen in every sense of the word, both in the Milwaukee community and for the Brewers. Since joining our organization in 2005, he has been a person of character and integrity. MLB has put a confidential testing
program into place.”
The PED tests of Ryan Braun first came as big news but as the time passed by, the reality and the authentication of these tests were objected while the Brewers’ management stayed apart from the MLB’s testing procedure.
This was the time when people started to say that all his MVP honours should be taken away from his possession and he does not deserve Most Valuable Player award for 2011. Braun was extraordinary throughout the last MLB season and played not only with full
confidence but he also earned great acknowledgment from all the big experts on playing that wonderful.
On possibly using a banned substance, Braun also has to face some serious consequences if his late appeal in defence of using PED went down. He probably will have to face approximately 50-game suspension.
For all MLB players, the Major League Baseball’s top authorities have stricken the PED rules since 2004 and are not letting go if anyone is found guilty using banned drugs.
