One day we tried to turn on our 4 month old TV and it just lit up for a couple of seconds and died, we havent been able to turn it on since. So we contacted the costumer service center and they just told us our tv is broken (no duh). Then we took it in and they said it will cost at least $300 to fix. Has this happened to anyone else? what did you do? Should I just save up and buy another tv?

Oh and we dont have a reciept.

  1. What happen to the warranty on this TV?  Don't you have a debt check or credit card receipt to show that you paid for it and the date?  I'd fight like h**l to get them to either give you a new one or repair for nothing.  Don't just give up so easy, unless you have money to burn.

  2. You paid a lot of money for a tier tier disposable tv.

  3. If the tv is less than one year old according to the serial number or date manufactured that stamped on the back label, I would call RCA and talk to a rep. Tell them you have no reciept because it was a gift. On this model the labor warr is only 90 days but the parts are for one year. 150 is average for labor expense to change the defective part. I have seen several of these sets with the SMPS power supply going bad. If the date of manufacturer is more than one year, then you're S.O.L unless you can convince an RCA rep to at least cover the parts
