MY GUINEA PIG IS CONSTIPATED!!!!!?

HELP!!!! SHE WON'T p**p, I CAN'T TAKE HER TO THE VET, AND I TRIED PUTTING OLIVE OIL IN HER MOUTH, SHE WON'T EAT MUCH, I GAVE HER A BATH AND CLEANED HER CAGE, PLEASE GIVE ADVICE! THANKYOU!

If you cannot take her to the vet, you will watch her die a slow and painful death.  What happens sometimes is called malocclusion-the teeth grow upward  as well as downward.  This causes a gradual onset of pain that intensifies and the piggy will eventually stop eating and drinking altogether.   These teeth can be removed if caught early.  Once it happens though, it's too late.  I'm very sorry.....I've been through it several times.

Just give her a little squeeze.  lol... I doubt the thing is constipated as long as you have been feeding it right.

how do you know its constipated? I suggest just feed and water like usual nature will take its course..................

Well if you really cant go to a vet for what ever reason we under stand and i would suggest going to A Pet STORE or a Community store that sells Pet food

And Then Buy differant Brands of food

The p**p Thing could have just been A Minor Sickness of your Animal

He is most likely Sick

Constipation only happens to Guinea Pigs if they Starve but i belive your a Good Owner

Give her a lot of water, and try feeding her fresh and dried fruit- but not anything canned. If you can convince her to drink some apple juice or apple cider, that'd be good too. I know when I give that too my rats they get full out diarhea.

If it doesn't resolve after anymore than a day or two, though, then you really should make every effort to take her to the vet. It could become a serious problem.

You'd better take her to the vet or she might die.  Guinea pigs are supposed to p**p something like every few minutes; things could go bad very quickly if she is constipated.

There isn't much that you can do. She will be ok. Exercise might do it but she might be sick and you might make her miserable.

She may teeth issues, an infection or something else. Bathing her isn't going to help and just cleaning her cage isn't going to either.

how do you know she is constipated?

if you are certain she is, feed her some hay, some grass, or some lettuce; romaine, green leaf, red leaf, the fiber will help.

Sometimes when you clean the cage, they won't p**p for a while, especially while you are watching. Go in the other room for a half hour and see if she poops.

I'd just clean her cage well, fill it up with food, and leave her alone for a day or two- maybe you are making her nervous- specially if she is new- she needs time to adjust.
