Hi, I finally have my golf set. I am 16 years old by the way and this is my first set. Please rate from 1-10, 10 being the best. Please give feedback.

Driver - Callaway Big Bertha War Bird

Woods - Callaway Big Bertha War Bird 5 Wood

Hybrid - Haven't decided ( Please Help Out )

Irons - Callaway X-12 Big Bertha (3-PW)

Wedge - Cleveland 588 RTG Sand Wedge 56 degree

Putter - Callaway Big Bertha (Any suggestions for a putter too?)

All in a Callaway War Bird Stand Bag

Thanks in advance!

  1. It's of no matter as to what I (or anyone else thinks).  If you like them, if they work for what you're looking for, then they're great.

There are a ton of hybrid clubs out there...you should be able to find one on the cheap (look for older models).  Almost every company has hybrid clubs on the market.  Which ever club you're comfortable hitting that fits your price range is probably the right club.

I really don't know what you're asking...Callaway and Cleveland Golf are reputable equipment makers.  Give yourself a 10, I guess.  Hopefully that's what you want to hear.

  2. that set is way too expensive for a beginner. those clubs have little or no forgiveness, somethign beginning golfers seriously need. and hybrids are a waste, if you have all of those clubs,

  3. Really?

If you can't play with cheap-o clubs that fit you...

what makes you think you can play any better with the brand names.

Get you're skills down.... and you can play with any brand/model!

Rarely do the pro's play all the same brand of club during a tournament.  (They pose with a complete set for pics and $$$)

  4. Sounds like you got a great deal.  That's a lucky find.

For hybrid, you may want to consider a replacement for the three and four irons.  You may be able to get away with replacing both with one club.  If you didnt' have a 5wood, my suggestion would be 18 and 22 degree hybrids but since the 5 wood should be about 18 degrees you may add a 22 degree and take out the three and four irons.

I play Cobra Bafflers.  Adams A3 hybrids are good too (I have an A3 hybrid 3 wood).  The Taylormade Rescue Duals would be a good choice also and you can get those on eBay real cheap.

  5. If these are in fact the clubs you bought and like.....what differance does anybody else's  opinion make.  You, after all, are the one that will be making them work.  The clubs look fine to me, ( would not have been my choice......but to each his own   right?)

  6. don't know why people feel the need to criticize, it's not like you went out and bought a $1500 dollar set of clubs. It's a solid set, I would give it a 7, 1000x better than any beginner set you could buy; and, i would definitely recommend getting a hybrid, so much easier to hit than long irons.
