  1. Most definently, they will issue his ID Card and they should fill out the application for you also.  Now days, once he enrolls you in DEERS, you should be able to use the medical facilities in an emergency situation, but his signature has to be on your ID card application.

You are eligable and if you have any questions, call his recruiter, your not the first one with these questions, his recruiter is there to assist you also while he is in boot camp.

  2. dont type in CAPS

  3. greedy aren't we?!

He is still in training, wait until all his training is completed and gets to his first assignment!

HE has to initiate ALL the paperwork!

  4. Just as CaptC said, but it may 30 days for your dental to kick in once you are enrolled in DEERS.  It all depends on the ages of your children that will determine if they get an issued ID card.  They will receive one once they turn 10 years old, but until then they will just get into facilities under you and your card.

  5. Medical starts as soon as he fills out the paperwork at BCT. They will send you an information packet. this is pretty much emergency medical, though. i didn't get regular medical (i.e. doctor appt/check ups) until we got to his first station and i got registered w/ tricare in that region. as for id....they will send you a packet about how to go about getting your ids now while he's in BCT. there will be an authorization form that you have to bring to get it. like someone else said, only kids over 10 get the id. i think i got my id within about 2 months (i could've gotten it within 1-1/2 months, though) of his being in BCT. you'll start getting stuff in the mail soon informing you on all of this.

  6. You should be receiving a DD Form 1172 (ID Card Application) in the mail.  This is the form that he has to sign and will have signed.  They you take that to the nearest base (doesn't matter which service or even if it's Coast Guard) and they will issue the ID Cards.  Your entitlement to benefits began the day he left for Boot Camp.
