okay now i use windows Vista home premium. Every time i want to open a office document, I cant, Windows installer begins and tells me to enter the CD for microsoft office.... :S but i dont have a CD.

And when i cancel the installer i get some "Error: 1707" ...

Its like that will almost all aplications except microsoft explorer. Is there any free update for MS office..?

Can i get a free download of a MS office somewhere? Maybe it will fix my problem.

  1. You trial has ran out. Delete it in programs and features. You have to buy windows office. Down load this office, it's free and very good.

    http://download.openoffice.org/

  2. It's not MS Office, but you can download openoffice for free at www.openoffice.org  It has the exact same function as (and is even largely compatible with) MS Office without the price tag.  I used it for a good while at college.

edit: 150 beat me to it.

  3. I'm pretty sure you have Microsoft Works for free.

    Open up Microsoft Works.

Click on Templates at the top.

Then click on Letters and Labels on the side.

    Then click Letters.

    Choose what style.

Then backspace everything in the letter.

Now save the blank document to your desktop and name is word.

Wha-la you now got Miscrosoft Word for free.

    It worked for me.

Oh and it's not as good as the real one for Vista, this free one is more like the old versions, but that makes it less confusing.

  4. go to www.microsoft.com and check for updates. there should be a service pack or two that you should have. do you have office on vista now? i'm sure that microsofts website has updates for office and vista

  5. intel prcessor sucks.. i also have that until i change it to other processor.

  6. no u have to pay to get an upgrade

  7. This is because of an update you have applied or a new operating system that you have installed! I can think of three options

    (a) If it was an update that wasn't major and you have a recent restore point you could just restore to that, which will probably fix it. Other updates that you install could cause the same problem.

    (b) Search the internet for a program called 'open office', its like office but 'free'.

    (c) In the mean time you can probably access the office files in the following way:

    1 - Navigate to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\

2 - Open the folder OFFICE11 or OFFICE10 or whatever you see there

3 - Click on the icon for the application you want to open e.g. Excel, WINWORD etc

4 - When the program loads and it shows a message that says 'Preparing to install' click cancel. this might happen a few times so click cancel each time (you have to be fast)

5 - you should now have the application open

6 - go to File>Open and pick the file you want to open

c is annoying but should allow you to open the files until you find a better solution. This worked for me with Excel when I had the same problem.

    Good Luck

  8. This is the Office Update site; http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/downlo...

Or, you can download a free 60 day trial.

Are you sure you don't have the original CD? It should have come with the other pc software when you bought the pc. The package will have the product key on it.
