My Doctor finally called and gave me my results from my MRI on my lumbar spine. I have a disc tear in my lower back that messing with a nerve making my lower back right side tingle and my right thigh most of the time. I'm not sure what to expect when I finally see the back specialist. Any ideas or advice on what to expect?

  1. He/she will review again the findings on your MRI and should  explain their significance to you and reccomend  treatment.  If you haven't had nerve conduction studies done yet I'm sure he will order that particlar test to see if the findings on the MRI are causing your neurological pain, You might need surgery or he might reccomend physiotherapy. You must tell te surgeon how this is effecting your life.  Goodluck

  2. they may not do anything except give you painkillers for a while, the likely advice being that it will heal itself in time.(say 2 to 3 months) and will probably also advise you avoid strenuous exercise so as not to aggravate your condition and give it time to heal.... or they may offer physiotherapy, with painkillers, to keep the spine, vertebrae and discs mobile while its healing.... or if it needs it, they may operate to repair the tear (highly unlikely though).....
