MY DOG (JACKSON) WAS'NT FEELING GOOD ON FRIDAY,SO I TOOK HIM TO THE VET.SHE GAVE HIM AN X-RAY AND SAID LOOKS LIKE HE HAD EATEN SOMTHING THAT ERTATED HIS STOMACH,AND HE HAD A HIGH TEMP OF 103. SO SHE GAVE HIME A SHOT OF ANTIBIOTICS, AND GAVE ME SOME SPECIAL DOG FOOD, AND TOLD ME THAT HE WOULD PASS WHATEVER IT WAS AND HE WOULD BE FINE. SO ON SATURDAY HE LOOKED A LITTLE BETTER UNTIL THAT NIGHT. HE STARTED MOANING AND MAKING FUNNY NOICES. THAT WAS ABOUT 5 IN THE MORNING ON SUNDAY. SO WE STARTED CALLING AROUND TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY ANIMAL HOSPITALS OPEN. WE FINALLY FOUND ON, WE TOOK HIM IN AND THEY GAVE HIME ANOTHER XRAY AND SHE SAID THAT HE PASSED IT BUT HE WAS DEHYDRATED AND THEY GAVE HIM AND IV AND KEPT HIM OVER NIGHT. WE WENT AND SEEN HIM AROUND 6 THAT NIGHT AND HE WASN'T DOING GOOD. HE HAD DIARRHEA AND WENT ALL OVER HIM SELF. SO THEY TOOK HIM IN THE BACK AND HOOKED HIM BACK UP ON THE IV. SO WE LEFT. I CALLED AND CHECHED ON HIM ABOUT 9 THAT NIGHT. SHE SAID THAT HE WAS DOING GOOD AND THAT HE WAS SLEEPING. SO THAT GAVE ME HOPE. SO ON MONDAY ABOUT 7 WE WENT TO PICK HIM UP AND BEFORE THEY BROUGHT HIM OUT I ASK SO HOW IS HE AND SHE SAID NOT GOOD HIS TEMP HAD DROPED ALOT, AND THERE WERE NO IMPROVEMENT. THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE HM STRAIGHT TO OUR FAMILY VET, AND GET HIM CHECKED OUT SO WE DID. MY VET WASN'T OPENED YET WE WAITED FOR 30 MIN. FOR THEM. ONCE THEY OPENED WE RUSHED RIGHT IN. THEY TOOK US TO A ROOM TO WAIT FOR THE DOC. AND WITHIN 2 MIN. HE STREACHED AND STARTED GROWLING AND HE WAS GONE. I HAD TO BURY MY DOG THAT MORNING. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT HAPPENED AND NO ONE COULD TELL ME NOTHING I THINK THAT IT HAD TO BE MORE THAN JUST SOMETHING HE EAT. WHY DIDN'T THEY DO ANY BLOOD TEST ON HIM? I'AM SO CONFUSED. PLEASE COULD SOMEONE GIVE ME ANSWERS. I JUST FELT LIKE THEY DIDN'T TRY HARD ENOGH TO HELP HIM.

  1. wow thats really sad. I dont know what could of happened it does sound more than something he ate. It probably was a disease or something get and autopsy done? well take care and sorry for your loss of your puppy :(

  2. I am so sorry.  It must be so terrible to lose a buddy such as a dog:(  What had you fed him around this time?  Any human food?  Did your dog used to chew pebbles, like some Jack Russells and other breeds are known to sometimes do?  It wasn't your fault though, it was just unfortunate.  Vet Tech's right about the necropsy to give you some closure, honey.  Demand one.  Again, I am SO sorry:*(  I know it doesn't make YOU feel any better about losing him, but at least he's not suffering any more.  How much longer would you have been able to see him like that, in such pain, discomfort, and misery?  And him not being even able to understand why it was all happening.  I'm sure the vets tried everything they could.  Sometimes X-Rays are hard to accurrately judge.  But you will someday recover from this terrible blow.  You'll be in my thoughts.

  3. I would request a necropsy to determine cause of death.  You clearly need some closure hun.  Sorry for your loss.

  4. I`m sorry for your loss. Can you have a necropsy done(autopsy)

    That will answer any questions

  5. Something must have ticked and his system and killed him fast.  I am sorry for you and your dog.

  6. Goodness my head hurts, take the caps off.Request a necropsy to be done by your vet

  7. So sorry for your loss.Do you or any one in your house hold eat or chew sugarless gum? It sounds like its possible your dog got a hold of some and it is a death sentence. There are hundreds of things that could have caused this.As for blood test ,yes they should have ben done to screen out what toxin had been ingested. There is no way you will ever have the answer since you did not have your dog autopsied.Again so sorry for your loss.Did you have mulch in your yard? Some of that is also toxic if it has hulls from coco beans in it.Tilks Mom

  8. Oh dear I'm so sorry to hear your dog didn't make it.

There's so much that can go wrong inside the body - I know I'm currently fighting to save a dog who suddenly started throwing everything up. My advantage is that I have some caring and committed vets.

I can't tell you why you're vets didn't take bloods or offer to do an autopsy. I know when one of my animals is sick I'm constantly on the net, reading books and talking to more experienced people so that when I talk to the vet's I have a barrage of ideas and questions I'd like them to think about. I'm sure it drives them barmy but I don't really care if it helps them think about possible causes of the problem. It's too late for Jackson, but not for your future dogs. I'm sure you'll know now to ask for blood tests etc.

Good on you for trying so hard to help Jackson.

  9. I'm so very very sorry for you loss.  It's never easy when a dog passes away, but it's even harder when the dog is still young.

I'm sorry to tell you this, but without having a necropsy done on the dog, anything that we might guess, would be just that .... a guess.  Having a necropsy is not  cheap but I'm sure you would spend that much money, if not more, if it would bring Jackson back.  His death could have been caused by just about anything from an obstruction that wasn't seen in the X-Ray to poisoning.

Please don't blame yourself.  You did everything that you could forJackson and took him to an emergency vet asoon as possible.   So manypeople do nothing and wait , which you didn't do.

The only thing that you can do now is to try and remember the happy memories that Jackson gave to you.  I know that's not much consolation, but you have to remember that Jackson has gone to The Rainbow Bridge and is no longer suffering or in any pain.  I know that's easier said than done.

I wish I could give you the answer that you're looking for , but all I can say is that I'm sorry.  You have my deepest condolences.   May Jackson rest in peace knowing how much he was loved.

    The Rainbow Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

  10. The information provided is insufficient to make even a good guess. However some form of an acute abdomen or infectious disease is probably the cause. It is sad. A thorough diagnostic work up at the outset might have had a different outcome.

  11. I AM terribly soorry for your lose.

    maybe bcuz of malniutrtion.
