I have a 5 year old almost 6 persian cat. She is neutered and is healthy and everything but she is VERY small. she is about the size between kitten and cat. I am worried about her because persian cats are supposed to look bigger than regular cats with all there fur, and my cat is smaller. she came from a litter of one but i dont know if that has anything to do with it. she also throws up almost every type of cat food except iams. she is also very skinny. Is something wrong with my cat?

i luv her so much.

  1. Every cat and dog should be dewormed twice a year...If this hasn't happened, her growth has beeen stunted...Internal parasites will gobble up a lot of the nutrition that you give her..

Also, a long haired cat needs a hairball remdie even more that a short haired cat...My cats get hairball remedie about every two weeks...If I forget ? Then I have to clean up the puke.. hope I've helped !

  2. Not enough info here to answer. Has she always thrown up her food? Does she do it shortly after eating? (thats not vomiting, its something else) Has she been to a vet? Been wormed? Has she always been thin or is this new? If new, time for a vet visit. could be worms, or hyperthyroid..or something completly different. Wet food or dry? She may need a sensitve stomach food. Ever try raw meat? chicken, pork or venison? raw ckn liver.

we have a tiny 8 yr old that ppl ask how olds the kitten. she has ALWAYS regurgitated her food after eating as well, but she not very skinny. the skinny part may indicate a different issue.

  3. If the vet says she's OK then you have nothing to worry about. Why don't you take her to the vet and talk to them about it, they'll be able to put your mind at rest.

  4. If she came from a litter of one odds are she was born to a cat that was probably too young to pregnant in the first place.  And if the vet says she has heart issues this could contribute to the fact she's small as well.

Yes, Persians can look bigger than "regular cats" but you're talking about Persians from a reputable breeder.  Not a backyard breeder that bred a cat FAR too young!

  5. If she is just small all around I would say she is fine but you have said that she is very skinny and throws up, this may mean she has a stomach worm which will slowly kill her if not treated.

She could also have a very sensitive stomach since most cat foods are not good for cats..weird huh?

I would take her to the vet for a check up since this isn't normal, while you are there tell them about the throwing up and ask for a brand of cat food with little to no ash. Good luck!
