Ma Jin, Jinhua Tang claim Women’s Doubles crown in 2012 Yonex Denmark Open – Badminton News
China’s prime Women’s Doubles team Ma Jin-Jinhua Tang doubled the celebration by clinching the trophy at the Yonex Denmark Open on Sunday, October 21, 2012.
Ma Jin and Jinhua Tang, who were underrated earlier in this tournament, performed beyond expectations and intercepted Misaki Matsutomo-Ayaka Takahashi en route to glory.
They earned the right to raise trophy by registering a favourable result of 21-8 and 21-12 after an exhausting effort of 44 minutes.
Though, native teams could not power its way in the final round still a decent number of badminton lovers gathered in local arena of Odense to encourage both finalists.
The Chinese campaigners played with great precision and ruled the court in both segments of the tussle. They completely enthralled their rivals with a splendid show of skills.
Misaki Matsutomo and Ayaka Takahashi, who were hot favourites for this encounter, put a below par performance and knelt down in a disgraceful manner.
The twosome of Ma Jin and Jinhua Tang made their intentions clear straight away in the beginning of first set as they prevailed in the establishing rallies.
They did not lose this rhythm and made best of their early advantage to finish the first half with a respectable score position of 11.
Later part of the game proved a dead contest as the suppressed duo of the first half could not lift the burden of a huge deficit.
The Japanese shuttlers let many valuable points slip from their hand and this bad patch ultimately led them to 8-21 defeat.
Next game was also played in similar fashion as the Chinese players showed consistency in their performance and locked the honour.
Ma Jin and Jinhua Tang did not waste time and established an unassailable lead by piling up a mountainous figure of 7.
They mounted pressure with few back-to-back points and then capitalised on this psychological edge to place an indomitable of 11-7.
After the mid-game break, they picked some pace and widened the gap in the third quarter of the set. Though, the Japanese campaigners tried hard to catch their opponents but Ma Jin-Jinhua Tang stole the limelight with an overwhelming margin of 21-12.
