Ma Jin, Tang Jinhua claim a berth in quarter-finals of Indonesia Open – Badminton news
China’s female shuttlers Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua forged a fruitful chemistry in the second round of Djarum Indonesia Open and gained access to the Women’s Doubles quarter-finals on June 13, 2013.
They were up against the twosome of Johanna Goliszewski and Birgit Michels and their meeting lasted for 45 minutes in the local badminton complex of Jakarta. Both teams put a great show of badminton skills and kept the audience intact while compiling the
final figures of 21-15, 19-21 and 21-11.
The victorious team prevailed in the opening and ending segments of the showdown whereas the Indonesian challengers could serve notice of their supremacy only in the second set.
Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua laid foundation of their dominance in the establishing rallies of first set. They did not give the opposing team enough time to get settled and launched an intensive attack to confine them to the rear court.
They bagged many valuable points without any interruption and established a noticeable lead way before the half time. They were in commanding position with a significant total of 11 at mid-game break.
This early advantage helped them in latter part of the game as they concluded this crucial set with an impressive result of 21-15.
However, the story was different in the following game as the native shutters did not disappoint their supporters and stormed back with a strong reply. This time Johanna and Birgit played with great conviction and matched their rivals’ skills all the way
to game point situation.
They showed their intentions by claiming many vital points in third quarter of the set and then swept the table with a tight yet decisive margin of 21-19.
Third set was expected to be a nerve-racking contest but the Chinese campaigners made it a one-sided affair with their staggering knock. They kept the opposing team at lower end from very stroke till the last shot was played.
They finished first half of the set with a respectable score and then locked the honour by putting an overwhelming total of 21-11. This was a wrap and Ma Jin-Tang Jinhua qualified for the quarter-finals where they will meet Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth-Rizki Amelia
Pradipta of Indonesia.
