Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua power their way to the semi-finals – Indonesia Open 2013
Women’s Doubles team Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua of China remained invincible in the round of eight and earned the right to contest in the semi-finals of Djarum Indonesia Open on Friday, June 14, 2013.
They were up against the native shuttlers Pia Zebadiah Bernadeth and Rizki Amelia Pradipta in local badminton complex of Jakarta. A huge crowd assembled to support the Indonesian duo but it was sheer disappointment
for them in this quarter-final match.
The Chinese campaigners ruled the court throughout this 28-minute encounter and wrapped this showdown with a favourable result of 21-15 and 21-10.
Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua, who hold fourth spot in the tournament ranking, laid foundation of their supremacy immediately in the first set. They prevailed in the preliminary stage and placed a decent total in no
time.
This early lead helped them to keep the native shuttlers grounded in most part of the game. At first, they mounted pressure by claiming many valuable points in a row and then doubled the impact by registering
a mountainous figure of 11.
After the one-minute break, the prime Chinese shuttlers injected more intensity in their attack and confined the local team in rear court. They launched a series of power packed smashes and added many points
to their total.
They were in commanding position in third quarter of the set and their unassailable lead helped them a lot in putting a concluding margin of 21-15.
The following game completely belonged to Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua, as they did not give the Indonesian campaigners even a single chance to proceed on points table. They started the beating immediately from the
first stroke and played with an authoritative approach all the way to game point situation.
Things became worse for Pia and Rizki when they dropped many points just before the interval and then failed to come out of this deficit in latter parts of the game.
On the other hand, the Chinese players kept on moving forward and left their challengers far behind with an impressive total of 21-10.
With this straight-set victory, Ma Jin and Tang Jinhua earned a spot in top four teams of Indonesia Open.
