Ma puts oil in every foods such as vegetable ?

I thought it is a BAD IDEA that can cause me fat but she say it is very good for health , is it true?

  1. It isn't actually healthy to be eating a lot of fat.  You do need some fats, especially vegetable oils, to stay healthy but the amounts you need are on the order of a teaspoon or two every day.


  2. I am very suspect

    Tell your mother that frying foods and using a lot of fats, especially lard and crisco and margarine and butter is just NOT good in a diet. There is lots of information out here to support this. Mine is not a theory. Its fact.

    And may I say, that if you are really spreading Philadelphia Brand cream cheese on crusts and eating that as dessert, that is not exactly a good idea either (You stated this in a recent answer of your own having to do with cheesecake)

    Cream cheese, even softened, is essentially the same thing as butter (see above)  Not so great in the diet.

  3. It depends on what kind of oil she is using.  Extra virgin olive oil is very good for you, but like anything else, too much can be bad.  Ask your mom what kind of oil she uses. If it is canola or peanut oil, you may want to suggest a healthier alternative.

  4. A little oil is ok if it's a healthy choice (canola or olive oil)  It is important to have a little healthy fat in your diet however there are other ways to get it like eating Fish rich in omega 3, nuts like almonds etc.  If your mom is using healthy oil in place of things like butter or margarine when she cooks then yup she's doing the right thing.  Just keep in mind although these oils are a better alternative for you they are also very high in calorie, I try to use cooking sprays when I can or they have spray bottles you can buy to put your oil in to minimize the amount you use.  

  5. Yes, oil is essential for health digestion and nice skin. It is the type of oil that you need to watch. Oil or fat from an animal is unhealthy and should be limited. Olive oil is the best and most health oil.
