Maarek expected to win William Hill Ayr Gold Cup (Heritage Handicap)
Heavy surface has always been ideal for Maarek to perform confidently. This is evident from his 22-race career that contains at least seven triumphs. Moreover, the David Peter Nagle trained bay gelding gained enough momentum from the outstanding success of September 15. Thus, it sounds quite logical to hope that he will dominate the field in William Hill Ayr Gold Cup (Heritage Handicap) that is set to take place at Ayr on September 22.
The high-stakes race will go down over the 6-furlong heavy track. A total of 27 runners are lined-up to compete for the cash cheque worth £74,700. The race card contains some big names who can prove to be fatal for Maarek, but he has prepared well to cope with all the challenges.
The five-year-old veteran horse has been winning with regular intervals since the beginning of the calendar year. On April 21, he elegantly grabbed the glorious title of Go Racing In Kildare Handicap at Naas.
He impressed all by beating 23 contestants in the Qatar Racing Handicap that was held at Newmarket on May 6. These two back-to-back victories increased the gelding’s stakes greatly.
After a failed Royal Ascot venture, the son of Pivotal out of Ruby Rocket proved his class in the Betfred Mobile Lotto Chipchase Stakes (Group 3) of Newcastle.
After finishing third in the Chrisbeekracing.com Stakes (Registered As The Hackwood Stakes) (Group 3) of July 14, he returned to action on September 15 and marvellously lifted the title of Newbridge 200 Renaissance Stakes (Group 3).
These stats are sufficient to back the claim that Maarek is the strongest candidate for today’s marathon.
However, it would be wrong to overlook the factor of Pintura who too has a decent track record. On May 11, the Kevin Ryan trained chestnut gelding nicely sealed first position in the Fat Gary Sports Earl Grosvenor Handicap.
After getting two consecutive runner-up ranks during June-July, the experienced horse beat a dozen of competitors to win Ladbrokes Mobile App Handicap (Premier Handicap) at Galway.
Thus, Pintura will fight hard against Maarek, but success is likely to befall on the latter. Good luck to the duo.
