I have to write a small report about the following theme:

"The implications of the Maastricht, Amsterdam and Nice Treaties. What has changed? What were the objectives?".

Of course, I'm not looking for someone to do my work but would you have some advice?

In advance, thanks.

  1. I will point the way...but not do your homework for you.

You can look up all sorts of Treaties on Wikipedia.

    www.wikipedia.com

    Good luck.

  2. That's a really tough question for someone like me who's not in to politics :)  But I would guess treaties are like any other agreement, and they have to constantly change to reflect new conditions. Like, enlargement of the EU would mean new positions and rules governing movement, finance, etc.

Sorry I can't help, but good luck with your report.

  3. Interesting. Everyone here has an opinion on the EU and is quick to deride it and desparate to tell us that these treaties are a disaster for UK and we should have no part of them!

But no one (myself included) can explain what their implications, effects and objectives were / are.

So if we were to have this referendum on each of these treaties, what would people base their votes on? Not blind prejudice, I hope.

Can someone explain to me again why a referendum is such a good idea?

Sorry, that's not much use to you for your report, is it.

    Try
