I need help fixing a DVD player error. Here is the problem: Every time i try to watch a new dvd on the computer. In dvd player on a mac pro 10.4. I get a message -36 error, can't read because it's dirty. But i cleaned the DVD ROM drive with Lazar cleaner disc. Tried restarting it, but it still doesn't work. I would love some help. ive tried the message boards, and mac forms, but to no avail. Its not under warranty and there is no one around that can fix it. I've tried disc utility to repair, i hope some one out there knows how to fix this. Thanks

  1. It's not the DVD player, the disk is probably scratched and therefor no matter what cleaning solution you use on it, it just won't run.

  2. The read laser on your DVD drive is busted.  On a PC, you pop it out and realign the laser with the hash marks, or replace it with a new one; 10 bucks.  On a Mac, that's not a repair you can make yourself.  You have to send it to an Apple "Genius" repair center.

Macs.  The just work.  Until they don't anymore, and then you have to pay inflated repair rates.  Apple: Think Differently.
