  1. if its sluggish then no need to panic all you need to do is to download anti virus software for www.download.com and the way you check with a mac is simple just go to control panel and see if your memory is low if so then delete stuff that you don't need e.g. programs or if not the case then go to start you should have an anti-virus software already but it might be out of date so download the newer version you have to download a newer version every 3-6 months so keep an eye out for software updates popping up on your screen alot.

  2. There are no viruses for Macs, so don't worry about that.

Have you restarted your computer recently? Try this.

Application > Utilities > Disk Utility.app > select your hard drive > First Aid > Repair Disk Permissions.

Once it is finished and says Complete, restart your computer. If the problem continues, try this.

    Application > Utilities > Activity Monitor.app > Menu > Window > Activity Monitor.

Click on System Memory. Make sure you have enough free memory, and that your page outs are less the 5% of page ins. If you don't have much free memory, or you page outs are high get more RAM. 4GB is best.

    Next click on Disk Usage.

If you don't have at least 10% (preferable 20%) of your disk space free. Try to free up some space, or upgrade to a bigger hard drive.

Do all this, and I'm pretty sure your Mac wont be sluggish.
