I am new to mac tiger 10.4 and i switched from windows because i kept getting virus all the time and windows kept messing up. I got sick of fixing windows.

My questions is why when i download files on the mac os do they end up on the desktop?.

How can i change firefox to display in full screen instead of having the mac icons at the bottom.

Also can you encode video files and do stuff you could on windows.

Is there much support for windows usb devices such as usb wifi cards.

  1. 1. Firefox Preferences > Main > Downloads

Check: Save files to: Choose, or Check: Always ask where to save files.

    2. System Preferences > Dock > Move or adjust it how ever you like. Then position the Firefox window in the upper-left corner of the screen. Next drag from the bottom-right corner of the window, until it fills the entire screen.

    3. You could try Quicktime for encoding videos.

Also a sugestion. Mac OS X is not really designed to be a full screen operating system. Its designed more for multitasking and having a lot of windows open and stacked. You might find you'll get more out of it if you try that. Also you might give Safari a try.
