Mac users please HELP?

i made a collage on pages and i want to make it my background but it won't let me. Do i have to make it into a jpeg? How would i do that?

The easiest way would be to take a screen shot.  

Hit command-shift-4 and drag a box around the area you want a picture of.  Release your mouse and wait a few seconds and there'll be a picture on your desktop called "Picture 1".  You can then use this to make your desktop.

While on the topic, here's a few other things you may be interested in:

-while command-shift-4 allows you to take a picture of a specified area, command-shift-3 takes a picture of your whole screen.

-if for some reason this doesn't work(maybe the keyboard shortcut was changed somehow) then hit command-space(to open spotlight) and search for a program called Grab.  This app will allow you to do what I just described, plus a little more.
