Mac vs Linux?Why Compare?

You cannot compare not linux.You can compare linux with Windows but not mac.Not because it is incomparable but due to following

People buy Mac's not for what it does but because the niche which is surrounded over mac or most of the apple products.Mac lovers buy mac for mostly its aesthetics and its niche.

So how much you try to show them how linux is more secure and reliable etc they wont understand.So dont compare

I am one of them and holding a mac book.

I bought my work horse macs because they work, NOT because they look good.

Mac and Linux are both stable and reliable AND not microschmuck.

I smell a poser trying to pretend to have macs. Hmmm.

Xerox's computing system is quite similar to the mac.  So after leaving Xerox, I got my mac and I knew where everything was.

Mac and Linux are just very good.

China got so fed up with Billie G. they dropped microsoft like it was hot. They switched to Linux and never looked back.

That's a lot of Linux users. Billions I think.

mac uses unix

linux derived from unix

mac hardware is propreity ;-(

windows is closed source ;-(

windows is insecure ;-(

linux can be installed on anything that can hold an o/s

Is there any point in asking this if what you said is true "they wont understand" - if you are "one of them and holding a mac book". :P

In any case I will continue. I know over the years I have converted many mac users to windows and linux! There is an odd notion that mac's MUST be better looking than any normal PC - both in terms of physical and GUI appearance, but this is not so. After all my computer has an excellent case with a cool green liquid cooling system that runs around the case and outside it. I've rigged it so that when the core gets a bit too got the a red light flashes on the front of the case - Ive never seen many macs like that. In any case disregarding appearence many people see the errors of there ways when explained to them the benifits a PC has over it.

You are right. The answers above are from linux lovers.And you said right that they wont understand why we love mac.I use mac as it is used by small no of individuals and its an pride to use mac.
