Mac vs. PC - Help with AIM?

Question

I want to install AIM on my new Macbook. How is it different than AIM on my windows laptop?

Also, just give me general tips and comments about it. Is it worth installing (I know it's free, but I just don't want to mess up my laptop, make it slow, etc) and how would I access it?

I'm new with macs, and I'm just a bit afraid to install it. I'm pretty new managing programs on there and stuff. I'm very good with my PC/reg laptop though....thanks!

You could just use iChat which came pre-installed on your Mac.  It is fairly easy to use and is fully compatible with the AIM network and a few others.

If you wanted to download a more robust client, I'd suggest AdiumX, which is an all-in-one chat network client that works very well.
