MacBook Pro help please!?

Question

i hooked up my macbook pro to my samsung hdtv. i just bought a hdmi to dvi cable. i guess im suppose to buy an audio cable now. but what kind? and also. how do i make it so that i can just turn the macbook to sleep and still be able to use it on the tv? please help!

isl247 has the right answer to your question. I think you might be looking just to close your MacBook and use the TV as the monitor. If so, you need to make sure you have an external keyboard and mouse connected. Close the MacBook and wake it up. You will be able to use the TV as a monitor and the MacBook closed.

Audio depends on what you're plugging in to. Best bet is optical if your audio system supports optical. Your MB's headphone port is also a mini-toslink optical port. Otherwise, just use a standard headphones to RCA adapter to get the audio into your audio system.

You cannot have your macbook sleep and also drive your tv at the same time.
