MacKenzie Horton wins Men’s 1500m freestyle title – FINA Swimming World Cup, Singapore
MacKenzie Horton of Australia won gold medal of the Men’s 1500m freestyle on day two of the final stop of the 2012 FINA/Arena Swimming World Cup Series in Singapore, Asia on Sunday, November 11.
Horton demonstrated his gruelling efforts on second day of the tournament and proved his way towards the finishing blockade for the title.
With his relentless efforts in the 60-lap discipline, Horton remained one and a half body length ahead of his closest competitor and transpired on the finishing wall for gold medal with a timing of 14 minutes and 54.25 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Mark Randall of South Africa, who stayed 1.55 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by producing a time of 14 minutes and 55.80 seconds.
The silver medallist was followed by Yun Xiang Zhang of China, who stayed nearly 12 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing blockade as third best finisher by clocking a time of 15 minutes and 07.19 seconds.
Zhang was followed by Shane Asbury of Australia, who remained nearly four seconds slower from his former finisher and surfaced on the finishing end as fourth fastest swimmer by clocking an effort of 15 minutes and 11.42 seconds.
Fifth best spot of the race was obtained by Sheng Jun Pang of Singapore, who remained almost 11 seconds away from Asbury and settled on the wall with the timing of 15 minutes and 22.53 seconds.
Similarly, Pang was followed by Brandon Boon of Singapore, who stayed more than half a minute slower from his foregoing finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 16 minutes and 03.54 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was secured by Benedict Boon of Singapore, who stayed nearly 32 seconds behind and submitted a time of 16 minutes and 35.56 seconds.
Boon was chased by Bryan Tjut, who was almost nine seconds behind and tapped the wall with an effort of 16 minutes and 44.34 seconds.
Furthermore, Horton expressed happiness over his victory in the 1500m discipline and raked medal for his performance at the prize ceremony of the event.
