Macau Open Badminton GP Gold 2012: Yip Pui Yin ousts Jiayuan Chen in Women’s Singles first round
Hong Kong’s impressive shuttler Yip Pui Yin showed a wonderful performance and secured her berth in Women’s Singles second round after overpowering Singapore’s Jiayuan Chen in first round at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton GP Gold 2012 in Macau, on Wednesday,
November 28.
The World Number 21 Pui Yin, who has been seeded at number four in Women’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with remarkable control in her game and remained successful in winning the battle quite easily in just 33 minutes.
Hong Kong shuttler commanded the rallies with her wonderful skills and kept her rival moving in all corners throughout the battle. She ended this opening round clash in straight sets with an impressive margin on the board.
In the meanwhile, the Singaporean lady tried to play attacking badminton but she was slow in her movement and could not place her shots in right areas. She went down to Pui Yin without performing up to the expectations.
The unmatched speed of Pui Yin and her powerful shots created pressure on the Singaporean shuttler in the opening points of first game and she stayed in lead.
Hong Kong lady was focused in the arena as she played attacking and positive badminton in the opening half and set up a reasonable gap until the one-minute break.
After the interval, the fourth seeded Pui Yin continued putting up superb show without losing her focus in the arena and remained in lead all the way.
Pui Yin was consistent in her positive play and she eventually bagged the first game with a stunning 21-13 score on the board.
In the following set, the higher ranked Pui Yin continued playing in the similar fashion as she did not let her Singaporean challenger to get close on the board and took a good lead until the break.
After the interval, the Hong Kong shuttler progressed without having any trouble and she finished off the game with a comfortable 21-15 total on the score board.
Pui Yin managed to end up this opening round match in straight games by taking just 33 minutes with a comprehensive margin of 21-13 and 21-15.
