Macau Open Badminton GP Gold: Srikanth K. stuns Alamsyah Yunus in Men’s Singles first round
India’s upcoming player Srikanth K. made his presence strongly felt in the arena as he stunned the higher ranked Alamsyah Yunus of Indonesia in Men’s Singles first round at Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton GP Gold 2012 in Macau, on Tuesday, November 27.
The lofty Srikanth, who has been making his presence felt in Men’s Singles category, put up spectacular show of impressive badminton and remained successful in beating his ninth seeded challenger in 43 minutes.
Indian shuttler proved that he has got what it takes to beat any opponent as he played with impressive precision and outplayed his experienced Indonesian challenger in straight sets with a tremendous total on score board.
On the other hand, the higher ranked Yunus failed to show his elite skills as he was shocked with the flawless play of his spirited Indian rival. He tried his best but failed to escape a humiliating defeat in the opening round.
In the starting set, the impressive Srikanth showed a staggering show on court as he executed shots with impressive variations and created a huge pressure on his rival.
The incredible speed and variations in Srikanth’s shots did not let Yunus to find a good flow at any stage and he remained struggling all the way.
Until the end of first half in the opening set, Srikanth was in complete command of rallies as he played positive badminton and set up a wonderful lead until the break.
After the mid-game interval, the in-form Srikanth stayed focused on court without showing any respect to his rival and he easily bagged the opening game with a spectacular margin of 21-10.
Yunus paced up rallies from the staring points of second game and played better badminton this time which helped him to stay close to Srikanth until the end of opening half.
In the ending half of second game, Indian shuttler took over the control of rallies by playing aggressive game and managed to grab the set with a decent margin of 21-18.
Srikanth got off a terrific start in Macau Open as he showed exit to his ninth seeded Indonesian challenger in straight sets with a tremendous difference of 21-10 and 21-18.
