Macau Open Grand Prix Gold: Michael Fariman tames Chi Man Lam in Men’s Singles qualifying round
Australia’s upcoming players Michael Fariman found a good start as he played with confidence and won the Men’s Singles qualifying round contest against his local rival Chi Man Lam at Kumpoo Macau Open Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Tuesday, November 27, in Macau.
The in-form Fariman, who has been showing a wonderful spirit in training sessions for the last few months, delivered a spectacular performance in the arena and remained successful in winning the battle without losing any set.
Fariman played with aggression in the arena and after a little wobble in the second game, won the match in straight sets with a convincing margin on score board.
On the other hand, the local shuttler failed to live up to expectations of his home fans as he could not put up strong show in the arena and eventually crashed out without proving his brilliance.
Fariman gave a remarkably performance in the opening rallies of first set by playing with spectacular speed and occupied the driving seat quite easily.
Australian shuttler showed his highest class skills in the arena and remained successful in taking a strong domination on court by grabbing an early lead.
The in-form Fariman progressed with terrific speed in the opening half and remained in lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the contest progressed in the same way as the Australian shuttler did not lose his commanding position on court at any stage.
Fariman was quite calm and composed in the arena as he did not take pressure and won the opening game with a staggering difference of 21-14 score on the board.
In the second game, Chi Man played better badminton as he accelerated his speed in all areas of the court and remained successful in staying close until the end of opening half.
After the break, both shuttlers continued playing attacking badminton and reached at the crucial stage of 21-21 when Fariman displayed his remarkable skills and managed to end up the set with a dramatic total of 23-21.
Fariman emerged as the winner in this qualifying round battle by finishing it off in straight sets with a 21-14 and 23-21 score on the board.
