Macau Open Grand Prix: Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin beats Jarolim Vicen first round
Malaysia’s emerging player, Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin proves his superior skills as he has defeated Slovakia’s Jarolim Vicen in the Men’s Singles first round of the Macau Open Grand Prix, on Tuesday, November 29, in Macau.
Iskandar opened his campaign in the tournament in a scintillating fashion as he played incredible badminton against Vicen and finished the match in straight games. He played flawless game in both sets and spared no chance for the Slovak opponent throughout
the match and ended it up in just 22 minutes with a remarkable margin.
The Malaysian remained miles ahead of Vicen in the first set and won it with a wonderful ease. However, he had to put in effort in the second set as his opponent was played better game this time. However, the Iskandar played well in the end and bagged the
second game in style.
Iskandar opened the first game in a fast way and established his domination on the pace of the rallies within no time. He was quicker in all areas of the court and played wonderful strokes and maintained pressure on his challenger. He remained fully focused
in the whole game and reached at 11-6 until the break.
After the one-minute break, he put in more speed and stretched his lead. Vicen failed to play at this fast speed and remained trailing far behind. Iskandar finished the first game in style by a margin of 21-9 in just 8 minutes.
In the second set, Iskandar remained ahead from the opening points. However, Vicen also remained close this time by playing fast badminton. The Malaysian was leading the game by a margin of 7-6 when he lifted up his level and reached at 11-6 until the one-minute
interval in the opening half of the second set.
After the interval, the Slovak shuttler narrowed the gap by playing well and reached at 13-17. Iskandar showed no sign of urgency and finished up the second set with a comfortable margin of 21-15 in just 14 minutes. Iskandar won the match in 22 minutes with
a 21-9 and 21-15 margin on the score board.
