Macau Open: Wong Wing Ki knocks out Shao Wen Hsu to ease into Men’s Singles second round
Hong Kong’s experienced player Wong Wing Ki proved his domination in the arena and eased into Men’s Singles second round after beating Chinese Taipei’s Shao Wen Hsu in first round clash at the Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold 2012 on Tuesday,
November 28, in Macau.
The World Number 23 Wing Ki, who has been seeded at number five in Men’s Singles main draw of the tournament, played with superb precision and overpowered his Taipei rival by taking just 29 minutes of the court time.
Hong Kong shuttler was in staggering form as he was very smooth in his fast movement on court and remained successful in registering a comprehensive victory over his lower ranked challenger in straight games with a wonderful margin.
In the meanwhile, the un-seeded Shao Wen failed to live up to the expectations as he failed to create any trouble for his in-form challenger and eventually went down without claiming any set in this first round contest.
It was a crunchy fight in the initial points of opening game when both participants displayed their impressive skills in the arena.
However, Wing Ki started to dictate the pace the game by pacing up rallies and remained successful in setting up a decent lead until the end of opening half.
The higher ranked Wing Ki proceeded with a steady pace after the one-minute break and did not let his rival to dominate the pace at any stage.
Wing Ki was very calm in the arena and he did not commit unforced errors in throughout the concluding points and took the game with a 21-17 score on the board.
In the second game, the lower ranked Shao Wen tried to show up a strong resistance but again failed to shake the confidence of his rival who was on a different level until the end of opening half.
After the break, Wing Ki did not lost his focus at any stage and remained successful in snatching the second game with a one-sided margin of 21-10.
The in-form Wing Ki easily sent Shao Wen packing in Men’s Singles first round with a striking 21-17 and 21-10 score on the board.
