how long does a severe macaw live?

They have been known to live up to 100 yrs old so if you are getting one make sure you have that kind of time LOL! They will most of the time out live you and the people who gets it after you pass away LOL!

I believe that Severe Macaws do not live quite as long as their larger cousins.  I think their average is like 50 years.

90+ years!  Such a long time!!  We have 11 birds and out of those...only one macaw, but I swear that is ENOUGH!  I love her to death, but she definitely takes up much time and demands your attention!  But she is a great bird and is so funny!!!

They can live up to 100 years. My parents have 2 and they are willed to me. They demand alot of attention and can be very destructive. They like to rip things apart. Wood strips on walls, window sills, furniture, anything they can get ahold of they will destroy. They are wondeful pets but take alot of work and are a huge commitment. Many end up being passed from home to home because people who bought them relise they can't take care of them. Really think this through before you buy one. They are also ear piercing loud! They scream louder than any child I have ever heard. And when they bite it really hurts.
