I had to relate macbeth to an additional piece of literature, and i chose harry potter 7. It actually does have some similarities in plot (and characters...kinda), but i am having a bit of writers block. So if anyone has any ideas, anything at all (that helps with relating it to macbeth), then please, feel free to share :)

  1. Well I think to a certain degree, Voldemort and Macbeth are similar.  They start out good (yes, I do believe Voldy is inherently good), but gain power and are corrupted by it, turning evil.  I don't really remember much of Macbeth because I haven't read it in a long time, but that is one similarity that sticks out in my mind.  I think that Fred and George are rather like the Porter, because they are both essentially comic relief.  Perhaps Duncan is akin to Dumbledore?

  2. Macbeth gains and maintains power through the murder of others, as does Voldemort.  In many ways Harry is the opposite of  Voldemort and of Macbeth. Macbeth's power seeking estranges him from those around him-he is left without love(even to a greater degree than Voldy who at least has his faithful lieutenant, Bellatrix LeStrange.)  Harry surrenders even the power to save his own life because of his love  and his desire to protect others. His compassion and his courage make him a true leader with a spiritual dimension  Voldemort can never understand and which Macbeth has forsaken in his drive for power.
