Question:

Macbook Pro question!?

I am looking to buy a Macbook Pro. I've been looking at both 07 and 08 models and I see that they don't have many differences, so I decided to go with an 07 model since its $1000 less... the seller (Abe's of Maine) claims it's brand new, never opened, etc. They do have good ratings, but I can't imagine how a model over a year old is brand new. Could it be that there were just some leftover laptops from last year that hadn't sold? I just want to make sure that I can trust them. Also, will this laptop last me as long as the 08 model would last, or does the fact that it was manufactured earlier and sat around in some storage area affect how long it'll last? Thanks.

  1. As long as you keep the receipt, you'll have a 1 year warranty, just the same as a new one.

Oddly, benchmarks are showing the '07 models to be very slightly faster than the corresponding '08 ones, although the '08 models should have better battery life (plus that "multi-touch" trackpad stuff that no body seems to use).

As for how genuine a particular seller is, I can't help you. Just make sure you protect yourself in every way possible (keep records of all communication and transactions etc.).
