Is there a setting or program that allows macbooks to remain active while the screen is shut?

  1. no it is in "hibernation" mode so it shuts down, but remains on.


  2. Do Macs have something called Power Options?

    In Vista you can go into Power Options and tell it what to do when the screen is shut ...

  3. If you want to do further research on this, it's generally called "clamshell mode".  You can trick it into doing this a bunch of ways.  I suggest Googling that term.

  4. It'll stay on if you connect an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, but otherwise there's no reason for it to stay on when the lid is closed.

  5. i am wondering the same thing, whenever im on aim and then go on away message and close the laptop it always signs me off!
