  1. Contrary to the rantings of the last guys, MacBooks are fine for college. Apple sells over 50% of the college bound laptops. They work well, have great tech support, rarely break down, have no known viruses to worry about, have great software...

  2.  I am S biased.

It will do everything you want it to do.

  3. Go no....

Mac is horrible, they are some of the shottiest computers out there. I work on one and i despise them. I would take my windows, HP over this imac any day. Number one reason

    - i can take my HP to anyone, and have ANYTHING i want done to it. Good luck getting an average IT guy to work on your mac. You will have to send it to apple where of course they will swindle you out of money for it. You can't but cheap apple parts to fix your computer, but you can buy cheap parts for your HP.

-Mac air has a small hard drive, and no disk drive, and one USB port... great huh? not to mention they are using a brand new hard drive technology that is readily available on the market, a solid state drive. Not very trustworthy.

-a bonus to the mac air is that it has a new 45nm processor, which means it fast...WAY fast. but what is the point if you can't play games... have enough HD space for anything reasonable, or get your mac fixed easily should anything happen.

Bottom line is that while macs are pretty to look at the overall quality is vastly overrated. Nice OS tho, very pretty :)

-The price of those computers are to much... when for the same price you can purchase a premium HP... with a great processor (dual core) and a good hd to match.

-EDIT: to the guy below me: macs do have one known virus , and its only because they have like a 7% market share that there are no huge viruses...

    - i can get ANY freeware i want, and i beat all my computers that my desktop can run video editing just as good as your intel based mac pro.

-Don't buy the hype man, they are good computers... but they are not as great as everyone makes them seem, not to mention apple had to be FORCED to go green.... Steve jobs doesn't even make the Fortune 500 list of philanthropy... Don't drink the koolaid.

  4. dont get a mac it is only good for photo and video editing.

  5. no. a lot of programs are made to be use on pc. besides. mac books are expensive!!!!

  6. in general, i know a lot of people who got macbooks before going off to college. a lot of people consider them to be the trendy laptop to get for college and besides that, a lot of people consider apple computers to be more reliable than PCs

  7. i am biased because i own a macbook!!!.....so i automatically say yes!!!.......but for business and things that may require certain computer programs it might be tough because not everything is compatible with a mac......other than that you can get excel and word and all the things you need for college courses that are compatible with macs and are in my eyes easier to use......it may seem a little awkward and difficult at first but thats because you have probably been trained your whole life to use that amazingly crappy PC program windows.......which stores data differently and runs much more slowly and inefficiently anyone who knows anything knows that macs run better because of the way they store there data....im not gonna go into the details of that but if you want to know its not hard to find out the technical things about it....just take my word for it macs are more efficient and when things are updated and upgraded they actually are just that.....unlike windows when you get an update all the sudden there sending you a patch and a new update because the other one had a glitch and the programs are falling apart....and so on and so fourth.......also 99 percent of the viruses written are written for windows......you can do virtually anything on a mac and not have to worry about a virus because well there arent many viruses for macs out there......they are compact and cool looking there different and fun they have many options there reliable and fast and built like tanks.....and there customer service is awesome.........i actually just dropped my mac about amonth ago on concrete without the protective sleeve i have for it on....it fell from probably about 5 feet right on the corner  and did something to the harddrive it was h**l for a WHOLE 2 DAYS cuz when i called tech support they said they would send me a box prepaid shipping to send back for them to diagnose it....that was on a tuesday i got the box WEDNESDAY MORNING!....shipped my mac on wednesday and got it back friday everything fixed free of charge....new harddrive and new bottom plastic case because it had been scuffed and chipped it was amazing......i love mac and everyone i know loves it and it already has the features you want in a laptop in it.....wireless card, camera battery lasts forever everything works together and never have to worry about program problems.....and also has tons of features that other computers dont even offer .......THEY ARE GREAT! you wont be disapointed and you can get one at a discout with a school ID and license! mine was 250 dollars cheaper than stock price.
