Question:

Macbook pro cd problem?

my macbook pro is having problems with reading cd/dvds, it will pull them in then read for a bit then eject it, i dont know why it is doing it. any help will be much appreciated.

  1. I had the same problem.  

    Most likely one of the lasers in the drive isn't operating correctly so it isn't reading the CD/DVD.

    If you are still under AppleCare - they will replace it.  Just take it in, tell them what's up.  If you aren't - you will have to pay Apple to replace it or another repair shop.

    It may be cheaper if you aren't on Apple care just to buy an external cd/dvd drive and plug it in - but that's up to you.


  2. I had a similar problem and ultimately had to have the optical drive replaced.

    Not sure what to suggest, but perhaps a trip to the repair shop is in order.  You could try re-installing the drivers for the optical drive, but I doubt that will fix it.
