Macbook pro to Vizio HDTV, will it work?

I have heard speculation as to how this would, could and will work, but none of the answers thus far have really answered my question. Will my MBP really work with my Vizio HDTV? And if so, will it put out as high a resolution as it should? Also, i have been planning to purchase a DVI to HDMI cable for personal testing, and better fulfillment of the "HD" experience and a little foresight from you fellows will help greatly in making this decision.

Connections?  What kind of connections do you have on the Mac Book Pro?  VGA  or SVGA?  Or DVI?

What kind of connections do you have on the Visio HDTV?  VGA?  Component? DVI (unlikely) or HDMI (more likely than DVI)?

You either have to tell the people trying to answer your question what connections you have or you have to provide model numbers.  Why?  Lack of information on your part makes it hard for others to answer your question.
