Macbook wifi question?

I'm getting a macbook soon and I heard that the airport extreme built into it will allow me to use it to use it whether I'm in a wifi hotspot or not,is this true?also if this is true will it also let me use my ipod touch' wifi?

no, the airport is just a wireless card like you would get in a dell or hp.  What the person was thinking of was called an EDVO card which you can purchase as an add on, but there is a monthly cost associated with that.

Your ipod touch just has a normal wireless card also, so it too would need an access point.
