Mack Horton captures Men’s 800m freestyle gold – Swimming News
Mack Horton of Australia captured gold medal of the Men’s 800m freestyle on third day of the 2013 CA TYR Fran Crippen Memorial in Mission Viejo Nadadores, California on Sunday, June 9.
The 17-year-old Horton showed no mercy to his opponents in the 800m discipline as he cruised his way towards the finishing wall for the first position. With his notable pace, he remained comfortably ahead of his opponents throughout
the race and emerged on the finishing end for gold medal.
With his commendable pace in the playoff, Horton managed to secure his fastest qualification spot of the race. He remained considerably ahead of his following swimmers and tapped the wall with the timing of 8 minutes and 03.71
seconds.
The gold medallist was chased by Jeremy Bagshaw of Island Swimming, who was almost five seconds apart and hit the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 08.65 seconds.
The second best finisher was chased by Janardan Burns of Mission Viejo-CA, who was 3.35 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end for bronze medal by posting an effort of 8 minutes and 12.00 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was secured by Arturo Perez-Ve of Mission Viejo-CA, who was 2.09 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end by clocking an effort of 8 minutes and 14.09 seconds.
Fifth position of the swim was secured by Nick Norman of Mission Viejo-CA, who was prominently away from his preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 16.92 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was secured by Ryan Kao of La Mirada-CA, who was 0.03 seconds slower and emerged on the finishing end by producing an effort of 8 minutes and 16.95 seconds.
Seventh position of the event was obtained by CJ Smith of Minnesota-MN, who was 0.47 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 8 minutes and 17.42 seconds.
Smith was chased by Jan Daniec of Mission Viejo-CA, who was 0.08 seconds slower from his former finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 8 minutes and 17.50 seconds.
Similarly, Daniec was traced by Jack McLoughlin of Australia, who finished ninth in the event by clocking a time of 8 minutes and 19.14 seconds.
In addition, Horton expressed happiness over his victory while the position holders received medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament.
