Mack Horton grabs Boys 200m freestyle gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Mack Horton of Melbvicentre grabbed gold medal of the Boys 200m freestyle in 16 years old category on fourth day of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Thursday, April 11.
The 16-year-old Horton devastated hopes of his opponents in the four-lap freestyle discipline and secured the crown. With his astonishing pace, he faced no competition from his following swimmer and secured the title.
Horton showed no mercy to his challengers in the 200m discipline and cruised his way towards the finishing end for first position by producing a time of 1 minute and 51.94 seconds.
The champion was chased by Hinds-Sydenham of SOPAC, who was 0.88 seconds apart and stepped on the wall for silver medal by posting an effort of 1 minute and 52.82 seconds.
Third fastest spot of the race was obtained by Bryto Heiniger of TSS Aquatics, who stayed 1.07 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 53.89 seconds.
The third position holder was chased by Angus Hannan of Cherrybrook, who was only 0.72 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 54.61 seconds.
Fifth position of the event was obtained by Peter Mills of East Brisbane, who was 0.38 seconds behind and hit the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 54.99 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Cameron Tysoe of Ginninderra, who stayed 0.10 seconds slower and tapped the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 55.09 seconds.
Tysoe was traced by Luka Zubcic of Essendon Dist, who was nearly 0.08 seconds slower and clocked a time of 1 minute and 55.17 seconds for seventh place.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Mitchel Hutton of Waterlions, who was almost 0.60 seconds slower and posted a time of 1 minute and 55.83 seconds.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their ruthless efforts in the 200m discipline whereas the winners were invited on the medal rostrum for awards and accolades at the prize ceremony of the race.
