Mack Horton secures Boys 400m freestyle gold – 2013 GHSF Australian Championships
Mack Horton of Melbvicentre secured gold medal of the Boys 400m freestyle in 16-year-olds category on day two of the 2013 GHSF Australian Age Swimming Championships in SA Aquatic & Leisure Centre, Adelaide on Tuesday, April 9.
Horton lived up to the expectations of his supporters in the 400m discipline as he cruised his way towards the finishing wall for gold medal. With his notable pace, he faced no difficulty in the playoff and proved his mettle for first position.
Horton demonstrated his commendable pace in the eight-lap event as he tapped the wall for first position with the timing of 3 minutes and 52.33 seconds.
The first position holder was chased by Hinds-Sydenham of SOPAC, who was almost eight seconds apart and clocked a time of 4 minutes and 00.31 seconds for silver medal.
The third position of the race was obtained by Lachlan Colquhoun of TSS Aquatics, who was almost 0.80 seconds apart and stepped on the finishing end with the timing of 4 minutes and 01.13 seconds.
Fourth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Hayden Rea of CYMS, who was 0.41 seconds apart and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 01.54 seconds.
Fifth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Sam Horton of TSS Aquatics, who was almost 0.80 seconds behind and settled on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 02.32 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was obtained by Ethan Owens of Clovercrest, who was 0.20 seconds slower from his former finisher and emerged on the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 02.52 seconds.
Similarly, Owens was followed by Reece Brennan of Redcliffeleagues, who was 0.29 seconds behind and tapped the wall with the timing of 4 minutes and 02.81 seconds for seventh position.
Eighth fastest spot of the race was obtained by Lachlan Hansen of Auburn, who was nearly 1.40 seconds behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 04.29 seconds.
In addition, the position holders collected medals and accolades at the prize ceremony of the tournament after the race.
