Mack Horton wins three gold medals at the 2011 Australian Age Championships
Mack Horton put up a wonderful show and secured three gold medals at the 2011 Australian Age Championships, last month. The event was held at the SA Aquatic and Leisure Centre in Adelaide, Australia.
Horton of VIC picked up the top seed in the Boy’s 14 years 200m freestyle final with a sterling time of 1:54.88 minutes. M Phillips (QLD), who was the revelation among the boys in this meet, was second with a time of 1:55.25 minutes and M Mincham of New
Zealand wound up third in 1:55.78 minutes. P Topalidis of NSW captured the fourth place with a 1:56.94 minutes effort.
Secondly, Horton took home the Boy’s 14 years 400m freestyle title with a fascinating time of 4:01.91 minutes, while M Mincham of New Zealand grabbed the silver with a 4:03.94 minutes and M Phillip of QLD snared bronze with a time of 4:08.16 minutes. S Horton
of QLD took the fourth place in a time of 4:08.9 minutes.
In the Boy’s 1500m freestyle final, Horton snagged his third gold title with a winning time of 15:37.71 minutes. M Mincham of New Zealand took the silver with a matchless time of 16:13.72 minutes, while S Horton of QLD clinched the bronze in 16.24.58 minutes.
E Owens finished fourth in 16:29.03 minutes. After clinching three gold medals at the Australian Age events, Horton was pleased with his overall performances in the championship.
The Boy’s 14 years 50m freestyle crown was captured by A Hannan of NSW with a winning time of 24.50 seconds, while team-mates, E Marks earned silver with a time of 24.50 seconds and P Van Westing finished third in 24.50 seconds.
On the other hand, Boy’s 14 years 200m back-stroke title was taken over by S Cumins of VIC with a sterling time of 2:08.35 minutes. R Leonard of NSW won the silver medal with 2:10.88 minutes, while his team-mate, E Marks picked up the bronze in 2:13.23 minutes.
In the Boy’s 14 years 200m breast-stroke final, J Traiforos of NSW picked up the top seed with the fastest time of 2:30.12 minutes, while his associate, E Wong grabbed the silver medal with a time of 2:31.32 minutes and H Dai of NSW nabbed bronze in 2:33.81
minutes.
Last, but not the least, A Walker of WA clinched the Boy’s 200m butterfly crown with a stunning time of 2:07.63 minutes. On the other hand, M Phillips of QLD earned silver with a time of 2:09.49 minutes and M Mincham of New Zealand rounded out top three
in 2:10.65 minutes. H McDougall of VIC finished fourth in a time of 2:10.65 minutes.
