I am a college student and I am looking to get a macbook for school and personal reasons. I want it for graphic design and photography so I will need enough space to run photoshop and dreamweaver Also, I want to use it for doing school work on word.

I don't have a lot of money, however if y'all really think its worth it to get the pro for my major i will.

will it really make a difference?

  1. I don't agree with Lucas that Macbook Pros are overpriced.  But you can certainly do what you need to do on a basic Macbook.

Mine is two years old, with only 1 Gig of RAM, and I run a full version of Photoshop with no problems.

You mentioned you want to use Word.  Why not buy iWork instead.  a lot less expensive, and Pages runs circles around Word (Of course, Pages files can be exported to Word, if necessary).

Buy the Macbook with basic RAM.  If necessary, later on, you can add RAM easily - and far cheaper than if you bought it directly from Apple.

Hve you looked into the refurbished Macbooks on Apple's Store page?

Check out Special Deals.  I've bought several Macs this way and have always been fine.  Apple Refurbs are fully warrantied by Apple just like a brand new one.

  2. Go for the MacBook. We have a MacBook Pro and a MacBook in our home. It seems that the MacBook is more awesome. It's economical and has great features. For some reason it picks up Wi-Fi waves easier than the Pro.

  3. No unless you can't live with a 13" screen.  Buy a Macbook with a Super Drive so you can burn DVD's and then upgrade the RAM to 2GB, 1GB is kind of slow.  MacBook Pro's are just overpriced.

    Hope this helps.
