Maclin Davis wins Men’s 100m butterfly title - FINA World Junior Championships: Day three
Day three of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships saw an impressive swim of Maclin Davis in Lima, Peru, on Thursday, August 18. The session of the meet conducted Men’s 100m butterfly and Women’s 100m freestyle finals.
At the beginning, the Men’s 100m butterfly crown was taken over by United States’ Maclin Davis with a winning mark of 53.24 seconds. After winning the gold medal, Davis was animated and overjoyed with his splash in the final race. In the corresponding splash,
Kenta Hirai of Japan took home the silver medal on the podium by submitting a matchless time of 53.40 seconds and Filho Mendes of Brazil captured the bronze medal of the platform by posting a matchless time of 53.96 seconds.
Erich Peske of United States of America was placed fourth with an impressive mark of 54.06 seconds, while Joseph Schooling of Singapore earned fifth spot with a time of 54.07 seconds. Yevgen Koptyelov of Ukraine finished sixth in a time of 54.17 seconds.
Dodaleu Yahor of Belarus wound up seventh in a time of 54.56 seconds, while Russia’s Andrey Tambovskiy earned eighth place honours with a mark of 54.65 seconds.
In the meantime, the Women’s 100m freestyle title was taken over by United States’ Lia Neal with a winning mark of 54.90 seconds. After the final heat, Neal was pleased with her individual swim in the final meet. Canada’s Landeghem Van took home the silver
medal on the podium by submitting an impressive time of 55.29 seconds. In the corresponding race, Bronte Campbell of Australia earned bronze medal by posting a stunning time of 55.46 seconds and United States’ Simone Manuel picked fourth position in a time
of 55.56 seconds.
Jessica Lloyd of Great Britain was placed fifth with an impressive mark of 56.15 seconds and Mao Kawakami of Japan earned sixth place honours with a time of 56.31 seconds. Moreover, Brianna Throssel of Australia secured seventh place in a time of 56.77 seconds.
Last, but not the least, Alexandra Wenk of Germany was placed eighth in a time of 57.22 seconds.
The arena gave a huge round of applause to all the winning contestants owing to their impressive swims and the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
