Maclin Davis wins Men’s 50m butterfly title: 2011 FINA World Junior Championships
Maclin Davis of United States produced a mouth shattering splash on day five of the 2011 FINA World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, on Saturday, August 20. The session of the meet conducted the Men’s 50m butterfly final, where Davis hit the wall in 24.26
seconds to clinch gold medal on the podium.
After the final meet, Maclin was contented with his individual swim in the respective race. Earlier, Maclin Davis won the Men’s 50m butterfly semi-final heat with a fastest time of 24.12 seconds.
In the corresponding meet, Mihael Vukic of Croatia took home the silver medal with a victorious mark of 24.30 seconds and Martino Lucatello of Italy snagged the bronze title with an impressive time of 24.54 seconds. More importantly, Ukraine’s Yevgen Koptyelov
and United States’ Erich Peske settled in a tie for fourth place with an identical mark of 24.88 seconds.
Matthias Bellance of France captured the sixth spot with a matchless time of 24.94 seconds, while Yunpeng Liu of China was placed seventh with a mark of 25.08 seconds. Moreover, Reynard Wessels of South Africa earned eighth place honours with a time of 25.44
seconds.
Meanwhile, the Women’s 1500m freestyle crown was taken over by Tjasa Oder of Slovenia with a winning mark of 16 minutes and 18.63 seconds. Her effort thrashed Elena Sokolova’s previous best time of 16 minutes and 28.77 seconds, set back at the 2008 edition
of the meet.
Rachel Zilinskas of United States captured silver medal in the respective meet after she touched the finishing wall and ender her swim with an impressive mark of 16 minutes and 18.85 seconds. The effort moved Zilinskas to Number 20 spot in the current rankings
of world swimming. Finally, Claudia Dasca of Spain grabbed bronze title in the respective race with a finishing time of 16 minutes and 24.30 seconds.
The arena gave a huge round of applause to all swimmers on account of their scintillating swims in the final meet, while the winners were awarded medals and accolades after the session’s completion.
