Question:

Macro vs. micro experience?

I was just thinking about how many people argue a lot for an experienced candidate if they ran a state or advising in the countries policies. Now here are my thoughts, if you have been lets say a mayor, who has more of an idea of what the people want, the mayor or a senator or governor?? wouldn't the mayor have his feet more to the ground?? He would be more likely to know what the problems with the people and how to address them, while a governor would be much less likely to know about this issues. So here is the thing, who would you rather have as president?? a very experienced senator, who has probably forgotten what it is like to be a regular citizen, or would you opt for a new inexperienced person who comes right out of the neighborhoods and knows what the issues are??? Im not trying to start a camouflaged Obama McCain argument here, so dont start a war here, just think about other people who would fit those traits, and give your honest opinion and reasons for it.

  1. Palin was both a mayor and a govenor.  Obama is not "very" experienced.  He has only been a senator for 2 years.

  2. if you really want to talk economics think about the fact that obama wants to get rid of the parties and unite the country under one party which would be very bad for the economy and the country. the two party system is very important to this country. (yes there are more than two but the two are most important and count a lot more)

as for your question. I think mccain made a great choice, and that she sounds like a fighter for the people. how could that be bad, we need someone like that for us. the rest sound more political she seems more human. and more honest.

  3. I think you make a valid argument.  It makes sense for the role of representing the citizens; however, the role of president is a bit different.  He/she is the commander in chief of the armed forces and the executive of a very large company and a cheerleader to get congress to do things.. Running a large organization like this does require unique skills that one learns from doing it.

I think that while the president should generally follow the pulse of average americans, his real role is to enforce the laws, whereas it is congress's role to represent the citizens of their area.  They are the ones who should be close to their constituents.
