Macromedia MX, need help?

i have the Macromedia MX package, and all i know how to use is flash... can anyone tell me what the other programs are for? freehand, fireworks, dreamweaver, coldfusion

  1. I believe they're all web/design programs. Dreamweaver, I know for sure, is website design software, very easy to use. If you know Flash, you'll be able to pick up Dreamweaver easily.


  2. Macromedia is now owned by Adobe and the current version is CS3. However, the applications in the suite aren't all that different other than Freehand and Fireworks are no longer part of it in favor of competing Adobe products. Freehand was a vector drawing program. Fireworks was a vector and bitmap image editing tool that allows you to slice images, add "hotspots" and other nifty things. Dreamweaver continues to be Adobe's main cross-platform web development tool. Coldfusion is a server-side technology akin to Active Server Pages, PHP, JSP and other common scripting engines. The version that ships with the design studio is a single-seat license for development use in conjunction with Dreamweaver.
