Mad Loz leads a mad dash to the finish line at Hove
Every race at the Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium guarantees fun, action, excitement, and a mad dash to the finish line. Such was the case in Friday morning’s race meeting, which
featured 12 great 515m races.
The first race of the day was an A9 race that saw Mad Loz (4-1) emerge as the winner. Coming out of trap two, he held an early pace, and would go on to lead first to win the race with
a time of 31.09 seconds. Finishing just a half length behind him was Swift Fountain, the 5-4 favourite. She initially moved slowly away, but rebounded to challenge the run in, completing the race in 31.13 to claim second place.
Mrs. Shufflewick, one of two 10-1 long shots in this race, ran on to finish third with a time of 31.19. She was ¾ lengths behind Swift Fountain. The fourth-place finisher was Boherna Maeve
(4-1), who completed the race in 31.39, missing out on a top-three finish by 2½ lengths.
Zambia (4-1) moved slowly away from the pack to finish in fifth place, 2 ½ lengths behind Boherna Maeve. Last place went to Flipper Jack, the other 10-1 long shot. He was outpaced from
second, resulting in a loss of 5 ¼ lengths and a finishing time of 32.01.
Next on the card was an A4 race that saw Alexandre (5-1) run to a close finish after leading third. Overall, she ran a great race, finishing with a time of 30.55. Second place went to
9-4 favourite Rising Cloda, who was just ¾ lengths behind the winner. Despite crowding at quarter and third, she ran on to finish the race in 30.61.
Big Time Greg (4-1) didn’t get a big time finish today, but he did round out the top three by placing third in 30.77, which was two lengths behind Rising Cloda. Lone Drifter (4-1), the
fourth-place finisher, missed out on a top-three finish by a neck’s length. He completed the race with a time of 30.79.
Laying claim on the number five spot was Gazbo (6-1). He baulked first, and could not make up for the loss of time as he finished 2¼ lengths behind Lone Drifter in 30.97. Finally, Guinness
Joker (3-1) took sixth place after crowding first. His time of 30.99 placed him a head’s lengths behind Gazbo.
The greyhound racing action at Coral Brighton and Hove Greyhound Stadium resumes on Saturday, October 16 with another 12-race card. The first race of the night is scheduled to begin at
19:30.
